I will be there with you ..... Forever

His hands shivered as he sat outside the operation theatre. Lips continuously murmuring the chants to The Almighty. He expected this day will arrive, but not so early and in such a shocking manner. She was his constant companion, his motivation, his ultimate goal... in short his life. But what he could do? The answer was hard but true. He just sat and kept staring through the glass door. That constant beep of ECG machine made him more and more worried.

Their smiles were the proof how much they loved each other. He understood her completely and she was the same for him. She was not just his love, she was his complete life which he saw inside her.They have seen everything together.... those starry nights lying under them and complementing each other, those slight drizzles and walking together on lonely paths, sitting near the seashore and knowing each other better. He always made her happy with his silly mad talks as she laughed wholeheartedly. They were happy with these small and silly things. But, he knew she will leave her one day. God was cruel towards him by taking her away very far from him. So far that even he cannot let her stay with him.


He came back from all these thoughts as the doctor approached. He knew the answer but expected some miracle. The doctor said with a grave voice that she had some priceless moments left with her. It was not something new that he was hearing but he sank into the chair. He remembered that one line which she would say every time that,"Yes, we love each other, but we cannot be together. God has some different plans for me and He can call me anytime." Life was free and it played a game of chess with him. God had all his soldiers lined up with its ministers but He cheated with him as in the front only he stood guarding his life. The soldiers marched to take her away as it was ordered, but he kept safeguarding her, keeping her with him, not forever, but a bit more.... just for some time. The game was played but he had lost it from the beginning.

As he entered, the cabin where she laid taking her last breath, he just smiled at her, set aside and kept staring at her eyes. The world was still for them, time stopped for a while to have a look at them.
"Can I say you my last wish ?", she said. "Yes please .", he answered. He listened carefully with all his ears. 
"don't cry as I go, because I will be watching you from above and you don't look good while crying.", she said.
He smiled as he heard those lines and just slid his hand over her.
"You always waited for a special day with me but I never made a move. So dear fulfill my last wish. Will you marry me now? I know I will not be anymore but I want you to be a part of my life. At least for some moments.", she cried as she said.

He couldn't believe those words but was happy as well as crying badly. The moment which he waited for came but would slide away in some time. He just brought out the ring on his finger that his mother gave and placed it in her ring. The nurses and doctors had gathered to see this never-ending love story, at least for one last time. 

They spent their time together before that hand slid down and rested forever. But, life, at last, gave them the moment which they dreamt. He cried but before going she gave him all happiness what he wanted. He lived his life with her forever ever after. Before going she told just one line, "I will be there with you forever."
